Say What!!!
Well let me clarify. Knowing what to do to make the change is easy. Think about it….if you want to lose weight, you eat less of the crappy food. You know you need to eat more of the food that is good for you. Right? Not that hard. I bet you could even make a huge list of what you shouldn’t eat and what you should. See! Not that hard. Well yeah, there’s more to it, but you get the gist:) We are going to focus on this topic, but I want to get my point across with other examples first.
Let’s look at starting a new job. You know what you need to do. Maybe you need to go back to school for a certain degree. Or simply apply for the job in the classifieds. It could even be rounding up the money to start your own business. My point is…..you know what needs to be done. If you don’t already know, you can easily find out.
So just to tie in our last example from the previous blog. What would you need to know to move to your dream location? You know you would have to check out the real estate there. Check out the jobs and what is available in the area. See, anyone could actually do that. So again, why is the change thing so difficult?
These are just a few examples and I used them since they were mentioned in the previous blog. In reality, there are endless examples of things we want to change in our lives. I bet if you think about your personal experience and what you’d like to change if you could, it would still fit this format. You actually do know how to make the change (or you could easily find out how). So you see, the knowing how isn’t the problem. That’s good news!!
Secret Sauce
Ok, ok, we always hear that there is no secret sauce. Well, I believe there is! Only it’s not all that secret. The true key to your success is YOU! I know… what a cliche. Only it’s true. Now, you may be the secret sauce, but you are not the key to your success. Let me explain. You are the only one who can make the decision to make a change in your life. It can’t be a half assed decision either. You have to make a decision you are ready to commit to. That’s step 1. Now for the Key to success!
Why most people fail…
You and only you can make the decision to implement change in your life. Typically that’s where our plan ends. We make a decision, and we are going for it hard core. Like truly, we are really going for it! And then something happens. All of a sudden you aren’t so excited about ordering a chicken salad instead of loaded nachos. Or that job would be amazing, but what if you can’t make it work, and you have to admit to people that you failed? Somehow moving to your dream location is feeling a little lonely. What happened?? You were so confident in your decision a couple weeks ago.
The missing ingredient!
Here is why 90% of people fail at making a change and moving towards their dreams or goals. There is no follow up. The KEY to your success is continued support. We may have the best intentions when we make our decision to move towards change. The truth is, we are the very ones who will sabotage it. We get inside our own head and start planting the doubt that will ultimately cause us defeat. Seems crazy doesn’t it? It’s true! The only way to overcome that is to have constant support encouraging you through those doubtful times. We ARE strong enough to make whatever changes we want to make. We just need a little help staying in that mental place. I am certain that the key to our success is 99.9% mental. Typically this is the part we need a little help with. I’ve been obsessed with this lately. There’s just no denying it. Having someone support us through our process is the absolute key to helping us achieve our success and goals. However, it’s the one thing the majority of us are lacking. That was what drove me to start this blog. I will work specifically with health since that is what I am certified in, but there will be so much that I include that pertains to any change you want to make in life. I have personally made many changes lately and the first major one had nothing to do with health. Yet it’s the one that made me realize that I wouldn’t be successful just because I made a decision. I needed ongoing support to be successful. Guess what….I’ve been successful with my decisions since. I’m not saying it’s been easy or I haven’t fallen back. That’s inevitable. Yet that has not deterred me. YES!! I’m so pumped!! I want to keep writing, but have to keep some for the next blog!
